Guest guest
Hayden is most likely getting the tenotomy next week (only in the left - yay!). Is the tenotomy cast left on for three weeks, or is it another three weeks of weekly casts? I am confused. Thanks!

Guest guest
The casts are left on for three weeks straight, not three separate casts. I know, all this is confusing. The only reason I know is that Maddie just had her Tenotomy a few weeks ago, and is getting her three week casts off on Monday. Hope this helps. good luck to Hayden, and congrats on only needing the left. We were lucky the same way except Maddie only needed the right done. - Michele 5/18/02 and Maddie 9/6/05 bcf wrote: Hayden is most likely getting the tenotomy next week (only in the left - yay!). Guest guest
It's a healing cast so it stays on for three solid weeks if at all possible. s. Guest guest
Thanks everybody for your help! The only concern I have about them staying on that long is with his skin because it could get irritated. Hopefully the cooler weather will help this situation and I must say that the stocking type underlayer has made a big difference as well. I'm so very nervous about next week already....anyone have anything they can tell me in order to prepare? number23 wrote: It's a healing cast so it stays on for three solid weeks if at all possible. s. Guest guest
Hi , My son had the tenotomy under local anaesthetics when he was about 2 1/2 months old. It was a very quick procedure, it only lasted a minute, and Alister cried only while his foot was being held. He was perfectly fine afterwards and didn't need any pain killers. There was a small spot of blood on his cast but that is normal and apparently the plaster being so absorbant actually helps prevent infection (at least that's what I was told). His cast was only on for 10 days (should have been 3 weeks) so I guess if you notice any problems during the 3 weeks then it should be possible to take it off or at least change it. All the best, with (3y) and Alister (3y, RCF, Ponseti method, UK) --- Cohen wrote: > Thanks everybody for your help! Guest guest
When Aleksander had his tenotomy, we made an appointment after a week and a half to have the outer part of the cast changed. Our cast always had two parts, the plaster that was up to his knee, and then that was wrapped in some other stuff that went up to the top of his leg. Aleksander liked to break in his casts by peeing on them, and would follow up by pooping on them to express his extreme dissatisfaction with the notion of being confined like that. We knew he wouldn't make it in the same casts for three weeks since he could barely make it one! I'm not sure how your casts are, but if they are like our's you can ask about it. It's a healing cast so it stays on for three solid weeks if at all possible. > s. > > Tenotomy Cast Question > > > Hayden is most likely getting the tenotomy next week (only in the left > - yay!).
