, the exhaustion and fatigue are from the prednsione. So is the muscle pain. The tightness in your legs is also part of the sarcoidosis. When it gets into the muscles and ligaments they do become very, very tight-- and stretching helps very little.

Make sure you are getting enough fluids down, as this helps keep the toxins from building up in your muscles. The other thing is that the pred takes (leaches) the calcium and magnesium from your bones and muscles, so you may want to take a good calcium/mag supplement. The MSM also works to help rebuild collagen-- so take it by capsule or powder.

Vit C is also a great anti-inflammatory-- so increasing that will help with the systemic inflammation.

What happens when we are on pred is that our adrenals stop making cortisol-- our own bodies "prednisone." When you come off the pred-- then your adrenals have to learn to produce cortisol again.

If you are weaned off to fast-- then muscle spasm, rigidity, irregular heartbeats, hormone imbalance (sleep deprivation and depression) kick in.

For your docs to tell you that you are depressed is something you need to explain to them is secondary to this illness and the changes in your hormones brought on by pred. Not to mention the ones brought on by NS. So, a good antidepressant may very well help, as it will balance the norephinephrine and xxx levels (sorry, cnat think of it right now.)

Getting rid of the sugars in your body will help also. Much of the neuropathy can be brought on by high blood sugar-- and we all know that if you have or are on pred-- sugars are going to be high.

So- fluids, MSM, Calcium/magnesium, Vit C, antidepressant, knocking out the red meat in your diet, will all help with these issues.

, I've done a bunch of posts on Prednisone-- and you can research them in the MESSAGE ARCHIVES, so please search there. I've been really sick myself, and am not working well these days-- so am not here very much.

I hope this has helped some.

Can anyone help me find answers re. side effects of being weaned off of Prednisone? I slowly weaned down from 60 mg to 8 mg. I was on 60mg for 6 months due a lesion in my brain next to hypothalamus and in my spinal cord C6 to T2, which the Docs at Mayo assumed was neurosarcoidosis. Because it was in, they could not biopsy. However ,there were also lesions in my lungs which they did biopsy and it was sarcoid. The lesions did respond to the prednisone.

However, I am so very tired and depressed. I also deal with severe tightness in my leg tendons. which no amount of stretching alleviates, which is probably residual from the lesion in my spinal cord.

I thought I would feel better titrating down on the prednisone, but I sure feel crappy. I realize people out there are dealing with a whole lot worse than I am and my prayers and thoughts remain constantly with you. How do you keep stamina and outlook on life so upbeat? I did well until a month ago, it is like I crashed and I can't pick myself up again.

Can someone enlightened me what's going on? The Docs just say I am depressed-What do you "Wise Ones" who have actually lived some of this stuff say???

Any advice anyone can offer, will be so appreciated. .......Thank You for all your inspiration. My prayer continue to be with you......... .. B...(marybauerb (AT) yahoo (DOT) com)
