Flaygl is a sort of antibiotic and is used to kill off most of the bad guys

in the gut that are causing the horrible malordorus " fluffy " smells! My

husband had it so bad I was thinking about building on an addition to the

house with his own bathroom! (I could smell it all the way from the

bathroom to the kitchen)

It does say no alcohol while taking it and I believe no alcohol for 2-3 days

after you stop it. It works kinda like anabuse where you get very very sick

if you do both. We are not drinkers so dont have this problem.

Depending on the surgeon, I supposed one could take a pill for life but its

not necessary. Mike took them at 250 mg for 5 days twice a day and once a

day after that for another 5 days then stopped. As long as he doesnt overdo

the carbs and sugar he should be fine. If it comes back there is enough to

do it all over again, He also has a prescription for enough refills thru

next year.

While you are taking Flaygl you must eat yogurt or take aciddolphilus

(sp?)etc to repopulate the good guys in the gut to keep the balance in favor

of the good guys over the bad ones. Mike eats 2 cartons of yogurt per day

to keep this in check. So far, so good!

When talking with your pcp, he/she might not understand everything you do

nor your surgeon......our pcp flatly refused to prescribe it so we called

out surgeon who promptly called in the prescription for us and then we went

and picked it up!
