Howdy folks,

I've been 'hiding in the bushes' for awhile, finding many of the posts

helpfull.

I have a bit of a question )if I may) - not sure if it qualifies as Medical or

Physics. I have been in supposed 'remission' for a few years now, but still get

MRI done every 2 yrs (to make sure whats left of my brain is still there-and

other changes) - I had a root canal done on one of my teeth in April this year,

& was told a metal post was installed in the 'canaled' tooth. It did not occur

to me @ the time, but I have begun wondering if this might interfere with any

MRIs in the future. I am curious if anyone here 'in the 'hood' may have any

ideas in this regard. I am not scheduled for my next MRI yet, + I am to see my

dentist in the near future, so I will have a chance to ask the dentist exactly

what metal(s) the dental post is composed of - of course I will also need to ask

the MRI Tech about dental post as well. Thnx in advance for any ideas\thoughts.

Mike, I do not have a " FOR CERTAIN " answer, but I will tell you that

I just had an MRI about 10 days ago and I have a couple of root canals

like that. They did not even ask me about it, so I would say it is not a

problem. However, you really need to check with someone in that field.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Hugs,

I have had several root canals, Also I have had a titian plate place in my neck when I had cervical fusion. I have had so many MRI's in the last few years I have lost count. I think it is according to what type of metal is used. You probably will need to call and ask your dentist what type of metal where you can let them know the next time you have an mri.
