Our son slept in his crib until he was 4 1/2. He would

sleep there! We used to give him a sheep skin to sleep

on and that helped until he started eating it. He

finally kick the crib apart. He loves to kick the wall

and hum for hours at a time at night. Then we found

that he sleeps best with someone. So we bought a queen

size mattress and now he and our 8 year old son sleep

together. Usually, Enoch, who is now 6, is curled on

top of . If Enoch is found wandering around the

house at night, the 13 year old will grab him and curl

up with him. Sometimes we have to put a mat down on

the floor of his " school " room and let him kick the

walls and hum in there until he falls asleep.

Sometimes music helps and sometimes melatonin helps.

We start our GFCF diet on Sat. when our order should

arrive. I hope that helps!!

doing to chelate?

I have heard that the weight vest helps calm these kids. Have you heard of it?

At the OT playgroup that is in, some of the kids wear these. It

gives them a sort of " snugness' too, a secure feel. Wendi

My NT 5 year old had an autistic friend in his

preschool class last year. He wore a weight vest

sometimes, and it really helped.

Wow thanks yes this helps. I was just wondering if anyone else has had the

same thing happen. I am all new to this and all the things he does and I

thought were his personality and his alone I found out that other children

with autism have it too. LOL Liam loves to kick the wall too and he hums to

himself. I remember the first song he started to hum. I believe he was about

12 months or a little older. It was twinkle twinkle little star. Now I play

Beethoven hoping that he will learn to hum this. He seems to like music that

has no words although he does like songs with words. he likes it when I sing

along and sing the words. It is so neat too cause he has almost perfect

pitch for a almost 3 year old. I have said since he was very little he is

going to be a musician either that or a pitcher on a baseball team. Boy does

he have a great arm. hehe
