Guest guest
I've not had this problem, but would definately be talking with the pharmacist. They can tell you if this is reaction to the drug. Here is what Arthritis Today's Drug Guide lists: Methotrexate Rheumatrex, Trexall 7.5 to 20 mg per week in a single dose orally (This drug may also be given by injection.) Abdominal discomfort; chills; dizziness; fever; general feeling of illness; hair loss; headache; increased sun sensitivity; itching; liver problems; low blood counts; mouth sores; nausea and stomach upset; rashes; shortness of breath; yeast infections Hope this helps-- Tracie NS Co-owner/moderator To: Neurosarcoidosis Sent: Tuesday, September 1, 2009 6:11:13 AMSubject: reaction to methotrixate Everyone - My husband is on methotrixate (he takes it on Sundays) and his entire body turned numb. Guest guest
Thanks. I asked the doc who prescribed it and he said it was not a normal reaction. He has been on it 9 months and that started. Guest guest
I take methotrixate. I have been having numbness since before I started taking the methotrixate. I was told tht it was due to the neuro. Alice Subject: Re: reaction to methotrixateTo: Neurosarcoidosis Date: Thursday, September 3, 2009, 1:00 AM Thanks. Guest guest
Helen, I had a reaction to the Methotrixate, but its been like 9 years since I tried it.. and so much has happened between then and now... so much medication.. I also couldn't take the plaquinal...So I ended up on Imuran, I took it that drug for most of the duration of my onset and I did fine on that.. Oh, I do remember breaking out in a cold sweat, and bent over with dry heaves.. as well a stomach cramps.. Now I know why I forgot it.. Hope you feel better soon, NS Moderator reaction to methotrixate Everyone - My husband is on methotrixate (he takes it on Sundays) and his entire body turned numb. Guest guest
Alice - My husband hasn't been diagnosed with neurosarcoid - he has it all over his bones and brain (they thought it was multiple myaloma). But the biopsies said it was the sarocid which he has had since 1999. But I'm afraid it is going to his neurological system. I haven't mentioned that to him because he tends to "ignore" things and has a fatalistic attitude but he did go get his bloodwork done yesterday when the doc threatened to drop him as a patient! His left arm and neck was numb about a month ago for just a few hours. Did your neuro start with numbness for a few hours and then it went away or did the numbness stay? --Helen Laing - "Sellin' With Helen" Comey & Shepherd City Office www.helenlaing.com Cell: Fax: Listing & Sales Leader --------- reaction to methotrixate Everyone - My husband is on methotrixate (he takes it on Sundays) and his entire body turned numb. Guest guest
Helen , I have Neurosarcoidosis and at times I did have numb legs and arms at time. Mostly during my last Flare up Aug-Sep 2008 I knew who I was but not where I was or when I was. I was argumentative with everybody. I was ready to fight and thought I was back in combat, Had so really bad "Flash Back". The Docs are still not sure if that was caused by the Neuro or the Prednisone. I did not pay attention to what was happening and did not recognize that I was having a Flare up until it knocked me down at work. My fellow employees thought I had been shot. Because they say I went totally limp and fell down. Scary for them at the time. Now the after math of a that is I have lost the ability to recall the last ten years of memories. I am still learning to express my self again (Thank the lord for spell check). I tell you all this to express my thoughts on this matter. If you think your husband has any signs of Neurosarcoidosis let him know why it is important to get the Doctor and get checked out. He may need to be reminded for He might have hard time remembering. I have granulomas 4 around the brain and 5 around the brainstem. If he needs to talk somebody then give him my e-mail krumdawg@... and let him know I am willing to listen and explain what I have been through. May you both and all my friends be blessed with health and wellness and may days that are pain-free soon be yours to enjoy. Greg aka Krumdawg From: h.laing@... Guest guest
I would not take it again until I talked with some one. Going numb is serious.
