Guest guest
Hi , Could you expalin the Belgian pull down, it doesn't sound like he's practicing the method to a " T " to me I've never heard of this and usually children aren't put a sleep for a tenotmy. Did he say why he wanted to use general anesthesia? Could you give us more information? Have you thought about getting a second opinion before the procedure. Dr. Herzenberg wanted to do an unnecessary surgery (Dr. Ponseti himself told me it wasn't necessary at all plus some other words he used I'll keep private) to my son, so we now see Dr. Morcuende and Dr. Ponseti now. However my son is much older he is 4 and didn't start out with the ponseti method so I'm sure his background is much different. Guest guest
Second-guessing a doctor is the last thing I want to go through a week from surgery. will be 6 months old when he has the tenotomy. Local anestheia can be used when children are younger, and I think sometimes when they are 6 months, but not when they are really active like . 's feet have been stiff. We were seeing a different doctor who was not doing much casting and had us doing stretching. He had suregery scheduled for November 14th and the first doctor was so evasive about what he was doing, I started to do research and found this group and Dr. Herzenberg. will be getting his 8th cast on Friday, more than the average because his feet are stiffer. Guest guest
Hi, I just wanted to let everyone know I wasn't trying to say Dr. Herzenberg isn't a good doctor I know he has a great reputation, etc or start any trouble. I just like to warn other parents that it never hurts to get another opinion (even if it is a wonderful doctor) before any kind of surgery. I was compelled to respond to the post today because I never heard of the other thing before the Belgian pull down until today being part of any normal protocol for the ponseti method I don't remember anyone else here ever mentioning it in the past few years, I didn't see it mentioned in the Global Health booklet or anything. I stopped taking Collin to Dr. Herzenberg even for future follow-up appoinments because Dr. Ponseti himself told me not to go back there. He said if I didn't want to go to Iowa for followups he said to take the drive to NY then not to goto Herzenberg just because he is closest to me and a bunch of other stuff I'll keep private, which shocked even me. But I'm deffiantly going to listen to Dr. Ponseti. I know all kids are different though and Collin didn't start off with the Ponseti method which makes him a harder case, etc because he had so much damage already from what the quack doctor did to him at 8 weeks old.
