Hi,

If a label says 'food acid' what type of acid would that be?

I bought some Cottee's Plum Jam " no artificial colours' and on the label it has

'food acid' listed last. (Other ingredients sugar, plums, pectin). I thought it

would be pretty safe. But today my son had jam on gf bread for breakfast and

lunch (this is the FIRST bread that he liked so he made the most of it) and he

had a dreadful day - teary, agitated, aggressive, swearing, non compliant,

behaviours that we have seen little of lately. I am sure that the jam was the

culprit. My hubby who is also AS and intolerant had muffins with jam the other

day and he thought that the jam was the trigger for a difficult day (I told him

it was probably the cheese and tomato, but now I wonder if he wasn't correct?)

My son has also been reacting to lemonade which has 'food acid' in it, so I am

curious what it actually is and the source. Can anyone shed any light?

thanks, Marita

I would call the company and ask, I am not familiar with food acid-but it

may be similar to a natural flavors label which can mean anything. Lis af
