Guest guest
Stacee, You just had a long post and I'm only going to respond to part of it. I just wanted to agree that it is scary to have the responsibility for maintaining the correction on your shoulders!! has been in the FAB for almost 8 months and I still worry and analyze her feet daily. It is a huge responsibility. I also used to wish they would just put her back in the casts. But then I would remember how much she was growing in between casts and she really needed to be out of them to help her circulation (her legs were always purple by the time the casts were removed). Besides, those baths are a great reason to have the casts off! Anyway, if you follow the protocol you shouldn't have to worry. If relapses, he can be casted again, and if you follow the bracing protocol you cannot assume guilt for any relapse. Relapses happen sometimes, and you can prevent it to some extent (actually a large extent by bracing), but certainly not entirely. I'm sure there have been cases where even with appropriate bracing, a foot relapses. On a side note, has the red bar and I adjusted it for the first time last week. She definitely will need a new one with the next pair of shoes, but it sure did last a long time! Seems pretty economical on that regard. Are you responsible for doing the ordering of 's FAB, or are you just trying to offer suggestions to the Ortho fitter? Just wondering. I thought I read that you already have a FAB? Oh, and just in case someone else doesn't chime in, the rotation is something like 35-45 degrees for the non club foot and 70 degrees for the club foot. Guest guest
Stacee, Forgot to say, I'm glad to have another emotional nutty mom posting here! I thought I was the only one! Working saddle soap into shoes early? Never heard of that, makes sense, but I'm sure it ranks pretty high on the nutty scale!!! But then, aren't nuts the best part of some trees???!!! Guest guest
Donna, Thanks for the reply. We just received a brace from Dr P yesterday, but it's unlike any I've seen so far. It's a pair of suede-ish leather shoes with what appears to be fiberglass reinforcement around them attached to a metal bar. I posted another message about all my questions, for which I was attacked, so I may never get my answers.... The setup we have now appears that both feet are rotated to within 10 degrees of each other, which would lead me and my not-doctor-brain to think that the setup was originally intended for a bilateral clubfoot patient. I have an Rx from our previous doctor that I was going to fill for the Markells and the bar, and around here no place stocks them, so we're sent to a Stride Rite store to be fitted and order them. They order the stuff and set up the bar/shoes according to what the doc orders, but they aren't orthotists. Anyway, thanks for your reply!!
