My understanding is that he does this because of the dissolving type of

connector he uses in the intestinal connections. This " connector " helps keep

the intestine open (in a tube shape) yet heal well at the connection. It has

something like a ping pong ball (but different material) with holes in it to

let stuff pass through it. He feels the less stress put on this and the new

connection the better. When I had surgery about 1.5 years ago, I ate mussy

stuff for the first 3 weeks. Now he has changed to liquids. He just feels

this is a very conservative approach to things. The patients can have

saltine crackers. I know I would be ready to chew on the furniture, but it

is all worth it in the end. Because ultimately with the DS, it is just a

temporary situation.

AJ.....right, the first week I could handle things like water, milk, cream

of wheat, jello, popsicles etc etc but comes the 10th day I had hunger for

real food! Of course I only ate half the cheeseburger and a few sips of

Oh I could handle that if I could have saltines. crackers is one thing I

lived on for awhile too and they provide some of the " fullness " feelings, I

ate them alot when I was pregnant LOL
