Guest guest
My son is five. He has been on the GFCF diet for 20 months. He can't have gluten, casein, soy, rice, eggs, peanuts, tomatoes, banannas, and a few other odds and ends. He only eats homemade french fries, pure potatoe chips, kosher hot dogs and applesauce only for his supplements. He's very oral sensitive. He freaks out when you try new foods with him unless of course they are the foods he cannot have. I am a lousy cook and I've really fallen short in this part of the autism. He also does chelation therapy, FGF therapy, ABA/Verbal Behavior, goes to AI preschool, takes a ton of supplements and is constantly being treated for yeast. I'm at my wits end and ready to give up on the diet even almost two years later. I have no idea what to feed him. Originally he was fine for rice. I was using some rice flour and he was on rice milk for over a year and now he's intolerant to that. I could really use some help with some easy receipes, again because I don't cook and I also work at home and have two other small, really demanding children. I would also love to hear of some " safe " candies without dyes to use as reinforcers for therapy. Thanks so much. Penny
Guest guest
Hi Penny, For the candies I use " Lets Do Organic- Gummi Bears " . They are a vegan, no gelatin gummi. Someone on the list had questioned the corn malt syrup in them, but I had called the company previously on this and they assure it is gluten free as it is a corn malt syrup, not a barley malt or other gluten malt, so I hope they are reading this as I deleted that post without answering it. Ols age sometimes make me do these things!!!!! There are no artificial colors or preservatives or artificial flavors in these. I get them at my HFS. LJ can't have peanuts or cashews so I give him almond butter. It is made in a plant that manufactures peanuts so if you have a high allergy well thats out, but there is a brand that is no cross contam. but don't know what one. Almonds are high in calcium too. You can make thew no bake almond butter cookies as follows: 8 oz. almond butter mixed into about 3 1/2 to 4 oz. SIFTED confectioners sugar stir in an acceptable GFCF cereal to taste, refrigerate , slice and eat!!!! Yum!!! here is one to bake- Yippee! Those peanut butter cookies that Sue posted a few weeks ago are even good egg free! Peanut Butter Cookies (gluten/casein/egg free) 1 c. peanut butter 1 c. sugar 1 1/2 TBSP oil 4 1/2 TBSP water 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp vanilla Combine peanut butter and sugar; mix well. Add oil, water, baking powder and vanilla. Mix. Drop by spoonful on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350' for 12 minutes. Cool before removing from cookie sheet. ********** Also Miss Robens sells an egg free and soy free, GFCF mayonaise that I put onto Papadinis lentil pasta (high in protein) and put some cut up chicken in it and make a cold pasta/chicken salad. The brand of mayo is Canoline What kind of recipes are you looking for - meals, snacks, drinks, cake,?
