Guest guest
Stacee, For what it's worth, in the 5+ years I've been on the boards, I don't recall anyone with a young baby posting about going into the FAB at 20/7. I'm sure there's some reason why he prescribed that for your son. I don't think it's going to hurt if you do more than 20. Whatever works for your daily routine! & (3-16-00, lcf)
Guest guest
Thanks for the reply. I figured more hours couldn't be a bad thing, just curious as to why, but didn't want to call and bother Joyce and/or Dr P just to ask that! It's not that important, and I don't want to portray the feeling that I don't trust in him completely! I definitely trust his judgement, just wondered why, ya know?! Guest guest
Stacee, I can't say I've heard Dr. P putting any babes as young as in the brace 20 hours from the start. However, I am ultimately sure he had his reasons. Which I could speculate might be that has perfect feet and he felt confident that there was some lesser chance of relapse, or perhaps his feet are even loose and that's what prompted the deviation. I'm just guessing. I think you are doing the right thing by erring on the upper hours side - I would just keep doing what you are doing and ask Dr. P at your followup visit. Or, if it is consuming you to know, send him an email and ask. I'm sure he will be glad to tell you his reasoning. littleman1013 wrote: I know I've asked this in the past, but never really got any responses... Dr Ponseti put in the brace 20/7 right out of the tenotomy casts, and I have always been wondering if anyone else had the same (or similar) experience? As luck would have it, I still haven't given him the full 4 hours a day out of the brace--in part due to my paranoia and also due to the fact he sleeps so much during the day that I can't keep the brace off for a good period of time. He usually gets one hour first thing in the morning and one to 1.5 hours in the eve before bedtime. Beyond that, it seems I take it off and he starts getting sleepy, so I put it back on rather than risk having it off too long while he sleeps or having to wake him up to put it back on. (NEVER wake a sleeping baby, right?!?) lol Just curious what the veteran mommies have to say about this. We go back in March for the 3 mo follow up. I'll probably keep on the current schedule (1+1 hours) until then, when I'll ask him why he decided to start lower than the standard 23/7. Thanks! Guest guest
We didn't, but after e-mailing Dr. Ponseti he suggested it, after looking at pics of Janna's foot. So you're not the only ones he's suggested it to. Marcia Anyone else start off with 20hrs a day? I know I've asked this in the past, but never really got any responses...
