Don't vomit food, simethicone doesn't help, not related to what I eat. It *is* worse sometimes on an empty stomach. Per Delphine in Rabkin's office, it's common and related to excess acid. I have developed really severe GERD after my DS, that is poorly controlled despite proton pump inhibitors, H2 blockers, antacids, propping up at night, etc. Rabkin's patient booklet states that if GERD develops post-op, it usually is gone by 3 months out....however, I'm already 11 weeks out and it's not improving.
