Hello,

I was also referred to Hanger by Dr. Grant in Birmingham, AL. Neuhofer, fitted my son (6 months) for his helmet. He has been in it for 2 weeks. We have met Todd and he was there with us when we had our son scanned. He watched the scan and answered our questions. I have had 2 follow up apts and both times we have worked with . So far we have been very pleased. has done a great job. I am not sure how many children they treat at a given time. They took before pics of my son the day he was scanned. There is not a CT in Alabama. The closest one is in Atlanta.

Hi all,We were referred to Hanger by Dr. Grant, a pediatric craniofacialplastic surgeon at Children's in Birmingham, AL. (7 months) has1.3mm asym, but his CI is 99.44.Hanger has only been in B'ham for two years. We met with Neuhofer, a senior resident orthotist. Todd is the "cranialspecialist" orthotist, but he was not there. I don't know whether wewould work with him at all or just with . I also didn't ask howmany kids they treat at a given time or ask for before/after photos. Iplan to ask her about these things Monday. We have to decide byWednesday. was very nice, but after reading old postsregarding Hanger, I am worried about her experience, especially becauseshe's a resident and learning all types of orthotics.Has anyone here worked with Neuhofer or Todd ? If so,would you recommend them? I think I want to do a consult with

CT, butthe closest one I am aware of is in Atlanta. Are there any in Alabama? Has anyone here been to the one in Atlanta? Would you recommend them? Thanks so much!Arden, mom to (7 months) - Brachy, CI 99.44%

I'm sure others will say this as well, that Hanger varies by location. I am

using Hanger and my orthotist has been doing helmets since the '80s. Hope you

find some more info.

We live an hour from Atlanta, and while I have also read on a few blogs that there is an office there - there isn't one listed on the CT website. I haven't been able to confirm that one really exists, so we have been traveling to the Charlotte, NC office (3 1/2 hours). Clearly, Atlanta would be much easier for us!

I don't really have any advice for you other than to go with your gut. A second opinion really can't hurt!

I called CT and they confirmed that there used to be an office in Atlanta, but it's now closed. I hope that helps!

As I stated before I am using Hanger in Birmingham. However, I was really worried about using them, so I called CT in North Carolina. I spoke to someone about my sons scan. They were vvery helpful. We have been in our helmet for three weeks on Friday. My sons head is already rounding out. We are very happy.

Thanks for everyone's replies. After finding out that the number listed for CT

in Atlanta was disconnected yesterday, I got us an appointment at Children's

Healthcare of Atlanta to check them out.

' scan was the same for asym (1.3mm), but his CI was 96.9%. It was 99.44%

at Hanger. I felt the Starscanner was more accurate (and much less traumatic

for him) since it takes a reading of the entire head at one time, where the

Hanger scanner takes several readings of different parts of the head and puts

them all together.

We are going to go with the Starband at Children's, mainly because we felt much

more comfortable with the ortotist's experience level, but also because I

believe that the Starscanner is more accurate, so I'll be more comfortable going

forward with measurement comparisons.

I did see someone on this board left Children's and went to CT in NC, and

's experience at Hanger has been positive, but I'm going with what feels

right for us. I hope I've made the right decision.

Thanks again for the information. This board is a wonderful resource for

parents of plagio/brachy babies.

Will it be a STARband then?

It's also good news that the brachy isn't as bad as you first thought. You just gained 3 percentage points.

It's always important to consider what feels right. That's what we did and how we made our decision. Let us know how it all goes.
