Guest guest
Jeneane, is this his first time at a structured school environment? I may be way off base here, but for us, when NT Andy started the early childhood program at the local elementary school, he really had a hard time because he had never been to a daycare or preschool before. I think that sometimes teachers forget that kindergarten is a brand new type of experience for a few kids. In Andy's class, I think he was the only one who had not been to daycare and preschool. The teacher told me he had ADHD, which she is not qualified to diagnose (especially in a child she barely knows), within the first week. These people don't know your child and each child will have to adapt at their own pace. Soor I can't offer any advice about diet, because we've honestly not even tried it on Andy because he is definitely NT. > Hey everyone, my oldiest son (we believe -NT) has just started > kindergarten. Guest guest
Hi Jeneane and all, Well, what an interesting topic. Since my son was diagnosed about a year ago, I have begun to suspect that my dh is on the spectrum somewhere (mild, of course, but there none the less). He also has asthma and alot of inhalant allergies. My 11 year old daughter has been dx with ADD and mild anxiety issues, as well, so what a bunch I have here! Interestingly enough, my husband was recently tested for food allergies and he has a PLETHORA of them-including wheat, dairy, corn, soy, bananas, etc, so I decided to have my daughter tested as well, and Graham is getting his complete test (finally) tomorrow. SO, I have a feeling we will all be GFCF before it is all over. I'm praying it will make the difference for them that it has made for Graham, so I will let you all know when I get the results. In some ways, it will be easier if everyone is GFCF and probably will be less work for me in the long run. Let us know if you find anything else out. Fondly, J--mom to Graham (7 yrs, PDD-NOS) and Hayley (11 yrs, mild ADD/anxiety and surly preteen)
