Guest guest
I have regular contact (about every 10 days via email) with Dr. Ponseti. He knows who we are very well...lol... Lilee is in the P/M 22/24 for the last 2 1/2 months. She is 6 months old tomorrow. She can roll over with and without the braces. She can not crawl, nor does she even attempt to. We have a semi-local Dr. now, but he alters the method like every other errogant Dr. thinking he knows better. So I do NOT trust him! The only reason I have him is to watch for signs of relapse, and because they pay for her shoes. I can not afford them or I would take her else where. What has other people had with the hour expierence. Simalar hours? Can you all please tell me what others have done. Thanks in advance! _____________________________________________________________ Christee, I think there is no hard and fast rule on hours and he may not remember exactly what he told you before unless it is documented in Lilee's chart. I mean how could anyone remember exactly what they told every single parent? What stage are you at now, how old is Lilee and when do you go back to see him again? Or do you plan to just see someone locally or Dr. Mosca from now on? I would just continue to consult with the doc you are seeing, erring on the cautious side if you feel anyone is dropping hours too quickly. Guest guest
This is an interesting question. I am convinced the decision the doctor makes with the brace hours depends on the mood he is in that day. I think and 's son, Christian, were on the exact same schedule with casting and everything. Once we got to the brace, we (our kiddos) both started the 23/7 within a week of each other. I remember after the 23/7 for 3 months, we were both given different hours for brace wear. I think ours was 12 and I forget what Chynthia was told (I think around 16), but it was different than ours. I remember we talked about it. It was such a long time ago now, I don't really remember the details. At any rate, I went to 18 hours for 3 months despite Dr. Herzenbergs recommendation of 12 hours. He doesn't remember what he prescribed anyway. At the next appointment 3 months later, he asked me how long she was wearing the brace. I told him 18 hours. He said, I think you can reduce to 12-14 now. Meanwhile 3 months ago, he said I could do 12. It doesn't make any sense. I didn't really question it because I did the hours I wanted to do anyway. We are currently and have been doing 14 hours ( in the s) since last summer. So my point is, I seriously think they try to follow the protocol, but mostly feel 12-14 is okay right after 23/7. Then again, depending on the mood he is in that day. Just my opinion of my experience with Dr. herzenberg. I still think he is an excellent doctor and wouldn't make a bad decision. Hi all~ As Maddie is also in the P/M, I have been watching the posts regarding the s and have noticed a wide range of suggestions for the time. Maddie is 7 months old and wears her brace 12-14 hours. So, I second Christee's question, is there a specific protocol for the P/M??? Would this be any different that the Markells? Does not seem like there should be any difference, but perhaps someone with more experience would know. We see Dr. Herzenberg in Baltimore, so I know that he is very good about following Ponseti protocol. We started off at 23 hour for 3 months, and then slowly reduced back. Thanks for any insight. Guest guest
When I emailed Dr. P about Marcus's foot this weekend, I also asked him about the hours in the s. I will let you all know what his reply will be. But I realize the hours may not be the same for everyone. > > Hi all~ As Maddie is also in the P/M, I have been watching the posts > regarding the s and have noticed a wide range of suggestions for the > time. Guest guest
My little guy's doctor said he can go to the 12-14 hours after the initial 3 months at 23/7. I still plan on coming down more gradually in hours - just in case. > > This is an interesting question.
