It was so awesome how all of this worked out, since we didn't need to

do the AFO's we were planning on we had the whole week to do physical

therapy to get her stronger and more confident before we returned

home. When they removed her casts after 5 months she could not walk

or stand straight or even crawl. We did physical therapy everyday

that week and I took her swimming at the rec center to exercise her

legs as well as her exercises during the day. Ponseti came over and

watched her in therapy on both Wednesday and Friday. Morcuende came

over on Wednesday, too and he also saw her in clinic on Friday. By

the time we left on Sunday she could stand up straight (holding on to

something), walk with her little walker with very little assistance

from us (when we first started she had to have lots of help), could

crawl, go up and down stairs, ride her favorite tricycle at RMH, and

was continuing to make huge progress. We can never thank Dr. Ponseti

and Dr. Morcuende for what they did for our little girl. She loves

being able to wear shoes now and even slept with her sandals in bed

with her every nap and nighttime in Iowa. It is so fun to be able to

buy her shoes in the store now. She loves her little light up shoes,

too.

We will return to Iowa in another 6 weeks to make sure we still don't

need to do AFO's at night. I am continuing her daily physical

therapy at home. She is now walking with her walker on her own and

rode her 2 wheeler bike (she got 2 weeks ago for her birthday) around

the neighborhood today pedalling it most the way. She is standing

tall and doing well. I can't believe the progress she's made in just

10 days. We are forever grateful to all of them in Iowa. I still am

in amazement of her beautiful feet!!! They truly performed a miracle

for our little girl.

How did I miss this post??? Congrats!! Soo happy for you and ,

that is just so sweet that she has been sleeping with her sandals =)

Brings a little tear to the eye. Must bring you absolute joy to see

her riding her bike!

what a wonderful update! thank you so much! I am absolutely thrilled

for you and .. what joy you must feel, seeing her straight feet.

I'm brought to tears thinking of her, putting her shoes and socks on

and off, sleeping in her new sandals, and delighting in her new store-

bought light up shoes. What an incredible story! That's wonderful you

were able to devote the week to therapy, and that she made so much

progress, with Drs. Ponseti and Morcuende there to cheer her on...

I am so glad to hear about 's progress. I was just telling my

husband over the weekend about how you guys are doing. This is really

the first time he has expressed an interest in my " little CF groups " ,

I guess since he actually got to meet you and when we were in

Iowa for the symposium, he was so impressed with when we met

you guys. He just kept saying what a strong little girl she was. I
