Hi Everyone:

You have all been so wonderful in your responses to my recent posts and

requests for information and advice. I really do appreciate your input,

and the effort many of you put into sharing your experiences. I have

learned so much from this list, many of you were instrumental in helping

save my life as well when I became seriously ill following my surgery

and almost died. It was info and advice that I received from this list

that enabled me to fight with my doctors for proper care and treatment.

There were people on this list last year who actually took my case to

their own doctors and did enormous amounts of research, etc to try to

find help for me. And I just wanted to say thanks to each and everyone

of you for the role you all played in helping to say my life. And I'm

still here, looking for info and advice, so I'd appreciate your patience

while I continue to ask questions and seek help. I was amazed that

people I have never met, called me at the hospital and sent cards and

flowers, and people who didn't even know me took it on themselves to

help save my life. Definitely a support group in every sense of the

word. Thanks

Just to reiteriate, I am 2 yrs post-op, I have lost 150 lbs. But

technically I am still considered 40 lbs overweight. I now weigh 150

lbs, and I should be 110 lbs. My weigh loss has stopped, and has been

stable for about 1 year now. I have lost nothing in 1 yr. I would like

to lose another 20 lbs or so. I think I can do this if I dieted a

little. I am afraid though of what dieting will do to my body and

metabolism. I was always told before wls that dieting actually helps

make you fat, you lose weight but then put it all back on afterwards and

more besides, and I certainly did experience this. I am afraid that if

I diet to lose a few more lbs now, that I will gain it back afterwards

and more besides. I guess I'm thinking maybe I should leave well enough

alone. I am eating large amounts of food and not gaining, and I don't

want that to change, so I don't want to do anything to mess up my system

and possibly cause me to gain weight again. Is there anyone on the list

who has dieted after wls and found they gained weight back again.

What's the consensus on this? I would rather stay at the weight I am at

now, rather than do anything to possibly gain weight. But if I thought

there was a chance I could lose another 20 or 30 lbs without causing

problems then I'd like to do it. Any thoughts on this? Anyone had any

experiences they'd like to share with me.?

Maxine
