Guest guest
Hi ee, What on earth did Shreveport Shriner's do to your poor nephew's feet? Poor guy- that sounds awful! Needless to say, I think your advice is very wise to avoid that hospital as far as clubfoot treatment is concerned. Halley Re: Re: second opinion ee Here. I'm going to pipe in on this again. THE SHREVEPORT SHRINE CANNOT HELP CLUB FOOT CHILDREN WITH THE PONSETI METHOD. THE SHREVEPORT SHRINE CANNOT HELP CLUB FOOT CHILDREN WITH THE PONSETI METHOD. THE SHREVEPORT SHRINE CANNOT HELP CLUB FOOT CHILDREN WITH THE PONSETI METHOD. I have a 17 year old club foot nephew who was treated at the Shreveport Shrine who still wears braces and is grossly deformed after 17 years of their Clubfoot Treatment! He is in a wheel chair 90% of the time as he can hardly walk. Why would you even consider going where we all tell you there is no qualified medical help??? I was on the phone with the St. Louis Shrine people just yesterday. They are offering me the Wings of Hope flights - which are free. Call the St. Louis folks - Dr. Dobb's secretary can be a start, she can transfer you to a woman named SANDY at ex. 206. Sandy can hook you up with transportation and lodging in ST. LOUIS. Sandy told me a Shriner's Van from Oklahoma would want to take me to Shrevport. SHE SAID Shreveport is NOT where we need to go - but warned me they would try to push me there as it is closer. THAT IS NOT AN OPTION. I know Shreveport is not an option, I keep trying to tell you that - they CAN NOT AND DO NOT OFFER PONSETI TREATMENT (re, my crippled nephew) Why waste your time and money and energy on the wrong thing?????? You are trying to get away from wrong treatment, so why go seek wrong treatment from an other location even further from home than your current wrong treatment!?!?! Time is running out to get this kid fixed up - why use up more time going to the wrong place just cuz some guy driving a van told you to? Call Sandy, she can hook you up with the free air travel to ST. LOUIS where you CAN get highly qualfied and high quality care. You'll schedule a flight out there, Sandy can hook the whole thing up for you if you just get her on the phone, she is a lovely woman and dedicated to providing this service so PLEASE CALL HER! s. Re: second opinion OK, I'm not in that area, and I'm not the one who has to make the trip, but I took a quick look at Google Maps. Newcastle is about 7-1/2 hrs. from Shreveport, 8-1/2 from St. Louis, 11-1/2 from Iowa City. The care that you'll get has got to be worth the trip. Read some of the horror stories of people who didn't get things taken care of right. We were almost at surgery ourselves - many of the people on this board were with the wrong doctor before they got to a Ponseti doctor. It's not too late to get to the right doctor now, just get there. If Shreveport can't do it, you're wasting your time and will (I hope) end up in St. Louis in the end anyway rather than surgery. Might as well go now. - Seth (meir, lcf, 1/29/04) > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone > > > > > > > > > > We are to go to ortho today. Guest guest
I'm not entirely sure WHAT they did but he continues to need AFO's inside his shoes and both feet remain in a very clubbed position even with that. s.
