We went for our measurements today. We are at 2mm, and have been there for 6

weeks. The orthotist doesn't feel that we will get any more change, and his

head looks great! To me 2mm is nothing! He started out at 8mm. My son is 14

months old and has been in his Starband for 22 weeks. Tomorrow we see his

specialist who will make the final decision. Should I get excited and expect to

be done, or keep going? There IS still room in his helmet. But isn't 2mm

enough? Hmmm?

From what I've heard, under 3mm is in the normal range. With already 22 weeks in the STARband and a 14-month old, I'd go ahead and stop. The band won't be good for much longer and there's no need for a 2nd one. If you want to try for 0 mm, you could go a couple of more weeks, but I'm assuming that the 2mm is not noticable and if that's true, then I'd go ahead and stop.

Congratulations - we have been going for nearly as long, but unfortunately, getting into the normal range probably won't happen for us (due to her age).

If you are happy with his headshape than yes. If not go a little longer. It sounds like wonderful correction to me!!!!

Well, we saw the specialist this morning. She agreed with the orthotist and

felt that we were done. We walked out of the office holding his Starband in our

hands. When people looked at Jimmy, I had to remind myself that they were just

looking at HIM, not wondering what that helmet was all about. Not that that ever

bothered me. I was always glad to educate people about it. What a feeling

though, to hold his head again, and kiss his head. It's beautiful and I'm so

glad we did it. What a small fraction of his life. It went by so quickly. I

can't say enough about this group. Without you all, I never would have gotten

through. I especially appreciate the mom's who stuck around after their

children graduated. You had so much info to share, and so much knowledge.

Thank you. I will stick around, and hopefully be able to help others. For now,

we still have the tort issue to deal with - sigh. Thankfully, he's coming along

well with that, too. Although it seems to be taking forever. Again, thank you

all for your help along the way. Moms helping moms is so powerful.
