Guest guest
Hmmm, you got me on this one. Do his toes look like they have moved at all? Is his cast loose at all, can you stick a finger in the top of it? If it is loose and/or cracked enough behind the knee, it could be his knee popping in there, which I don't know if that is a good thing. I don't know, Sunday you say? I just don't know if that is something to be worried about or not. Beth the cast lady is our best bet for an answer on that one if you can't get ahold of your doc. But I would call them, see what they say. If you can't find any answers and you are really freaking out on it you could take the cast off and put him in the shoes a day or two early, I don't think it would hurt anything. HTH, > > The other day, while I was playing with Marcus, I heard a " popping " sound coming from his casted leg. I thought it was just a spoof and then it happened again. My husband heard it too several times. It doesn't happen very often, but it does happen and now it's got me worried. I can't figure out if the sound is coming from his knee area or ankle. Do you think It's possible that his bones/joints are popping/dislocating. I checked his hips and they're fine. My best guess is that it's coming from the knee. The cast is a bit cracked in the area behind the knee. But that's not the sound I heard. What do you all think? Should I worry? Has this happened to anyone else? His cast is due to come off on Sunday (his ortho appt is on Monday, so he will go into the s until the appt. time). > > > Mom to Marcus 11/05 LCF - s 23/7 > > --------------------------------- > Yahoo! Guest guest
His toes are nice and pink and right where they should be. The cast is nice and snug. It's really no different than any of the other casts he's been in - except for the small lateral crack behind the knee. I'll just take it off this Saturday rather than wait for Sunday. wrote: Hmmm, you got me on this one. Do his toes look like they have moved at all? Guest guest
If he doesn't seem to be in any pain, I won't worry too much, however if he is whining, I'd check it out. Once, while in Iowa, Gabe's cast split a bit (he was always pounding them on things for fun). I t had split on the inside right above his ankle. It was a Ponseti cast, and they are quite heavy. So, I thought Gabe was just being whiny about the new bulk he was forced to deal with... Later that nigh, I decided that something was truly wrong, so I removed the cast. The two halves had given just enough to cause Gabe to pinch himself every time he moved his foot up or down. The blister was HUGE... I felt horrible! I mention it only because the cast made popping noises, butI couldn't see the crack till I got a few layers off the cast. > > The other day, while I was playing with Marcus, I heard a " popping " sound coming from his casted leg. Guest guest
Marcus doesn't seem to be bothered by the cast at all. In fact, he's the happiest he's been. So I don't think any pain is involved. And then again, his young bones and joints are so tender - would he even have pain if the joints were to dislocate/pop? I sure hope nothing is wrong under this cast. I will feel terrible for not taking it off sooner. faith slattery wrote: If he doesn't seem to be in any pain, I won't worry too much, however if he is whining, I'd check it out. Guest guest
I really can't imagine that something serious could be wrong and he's not telling you about it. Popping is really common, not dislocating but just popping noises in babies joints. For a while every time I picked Sammy up his shoulders would pop, DH was always telling me I was being too rough with him, but I'm like, I'm just picking him up, how can I be too rough?? It's not like I'm throwing him over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes or something. I'm going to say that everything will be just fine. And you know that makes it so, right? Let us know, okay? allison > > > > The other day, while I was playing with Marcus, I heard > a " popping " sound coming from his casted leg.
