Guest guest
HEY!! This one has my name allll over it!! The symptoms of IBS consist of frequent uncontrollable BMs, accompanied by a rolling crampy feeling. One might continue to strain even after having a BM. I only have experience with the diarrhea-prevalent version, but there is also a constipation-prevalent, and a form that alternates between one extreme and the other. Diagnosis is confirmed by having a colonoscopy that is negative for polyps, ulcerative disease, or any organic disease. Treatment varies dependant on the type of IBS you experience, but anticholinergic drugs can help to quell the abnormal bowel spasms. There are quite a few treatment modalities. Talk to your doctor about a referral to a gastroenterologist, and good luck! Hope this helped... Hugs, Liane > What are the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome? Guest guest
Ann & Liane, A friend of mine was mis-diagnosed with IBS when in fact he had intolerance to gluten (wheat and other grains). Once he avoided gluten his problems went away. Now he can eat moderate amounts of gluten. He is vegan, so this was rather challanging for him. He had to switch to rice based things rather than wheat or barley. As I recall he also had lactouse intolerance. IBS is one of those diagnosis like " fibromyalga " . It means they don't know what is going on with your body, but they can't admit it, so they give it a fancy name. Hull > > What are the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome?
