Guest guest
Alyssa, You make a good point. BPD/DS is sort of redundant. The names stems from the combination of ideas from Deemester (DS) and Scopinaro (BPD) to form the hybrid BPD/DS. But indeed BPD/SG is technically more accurate. In fact, BPD has been tried with a number of different gastric restrictions (or sometimes none at all). There is a BPD with VBG, and BPD with silicone band etc. So the old BPD really should have been called BPD/DG for BPD + " Distal Gastrectomy " . You are getting sharp! Guest guest
I think some DS surgeons call it a BPD/LG that is, lateral gastrectomy which is a more technically accurate name. I think the " sleeve " term is something invented by the ever brilliant Dr G. But maybe not. in Seattle > Alyssa, > > You make a good point. BPD/DS is sort of redundant.
