Guest guest
-April-I have a fabulous book called " Teaching Language to Children with Autism or Other Developmental Disorders " by Mark L. Sundberg,PHD and W.Partington,PHD They run Behavior Analysts,Inc in California. I ordered it after watching a fascinating show on Dateline about a little girl who's mother learned this technique and the girl " recovered. " I actually tracked down the mother and we spoke on the phone quite a bit-I found this book amazing and my daughter was able to make HUGE strides before ever starting preschool or kindergarten. She does great now and I attribute it to a headstart at home.I also have a workbook from there that lets you evaluate your child over and over to find out specifically what s/he has learned. It was very helpful and encouraging to see improvement. The address in the book is Behavior Analysts,Inc 3329 Road Pleasant Hill,CA 94523 Phone # (925)210-9374 They also have a website which I haven't checked out lately but it used to be www.corteks.com/STARS Good luck! I hope this helps. Kathy-- In GFCFKids@y..., April Makerney <makerney@s...> wrote: > Hi everyone, > > I decided not to be so " hicky " today, by saying yall. hehe > > I have a question. She follows very little direction. Has A LOT of stimming that I just can't seem to get her to stop. Looking at ceiling, hand flapping, crossing her eyes, major stuff with her hands. How do I get her to stop this, or redirect it so that I can get her to " Sit down, Hands down, Look at Me, Do this.... ya know! > > Thanks so much, > April > > >
