Guest guest
After reading information and looking at the design of the bands I'd like to try the DOC band for Zack. Would some of the parents with children in the DOC band give me a pros and cons list? I'd really appreciate it. I've read alot of the messages about the DOC band previously posted, but after the disaster that the AOI helmet turned out to be for Zack, I'd just like to hear it all again. We are still pro banding and want to try again with a different design. Thanks a bunch Lou Ann
Guest guest
--- My opinion is very biased but that is because we had two failed Hanger Bands. IMO....The DOC band is feather light, it does not need to be pried open and it needed very little adjusting the day we received it. Also, my son was sleeping though the night with it on day two. The Hanger band was very closed on top and came down much lower on his neck, the tech had to open up both ear holes and it needed to be pried open and shimmied over his head. Plus, according to their break in schedule, my son wasn't supposed to sleep overnight in it until the 5th day (he never got to this point anyway because we had weeks and weeks of problems). Good luck with your decision. Guest guest
For us the pros were: 1. ease of use. Easy to clean and remove. 2. Fit well and was easily adjusted. 3. Better looking than the other bands in my opinion. 4. DOC is the pioneers of making the band so we felt in good hands. 5. Professional office and orthotists. 6. Time in the band went very fast for us. Cons 1. The almost two hour drive to my nearest provider. Good luck and let us know how you do with your experience. Guest guest
I would second all of the pros that Tammy listed and just alter her con to read three hours for our closest CT. Good luck! Guest guest
Lou Ann,I would echo the other parents' pros of CT. Additionally, I like the fact that the founder of CT is still completely hands on with everything. if a band has issues, she will still personally look into it if need be. We have found the staff to be exceptionally professional, friendly and concerned. Our ortho even gave us her cell number to reach her anytime we need her.Good luck!Sandymom to Lyla - 6month - 23 days in Doc Bandand Owen 4 Pros and cons of the DOC band? Guest guest
Lou Ann, I would have to agree. The CEO/founder was willing to make Ethan's second band herself the day we had his head scanned (she was on the phone with the Paramus office while we were there making sure she had what she needed). I would have had the band in 2 days. They have also been incredibly helpful in providing info to bring to a specialist. My son is not currently a candidate for a band; if I had gone to another provider I would have ended up going to CT for a second opinion anyway You cant go wrong w/ CT Good Luck Audra Mom to Ethan, 6 months, plagio and tort and andria 3yrs Pros and cons of the DOC band?
