Guest guest
Hello everyone! I had my surgery on Sept. 5th. No complications until today. The corner of the most left incision has been slowly oozing all day (mixture of puss and thin blood). I called Dr. E and he said to soak it in warm water and tomorrow apply warm compresses and of course to call him if it gets worse. Well, as of now it is still oozing (not a lot) and the incision area is red. Did anyone else have this problem and if you did what did you do about it? Thanks in advance. Guest guest
I'm eight weeks out today & had no complications until yesterday. I had my surgery done lap (actually lap-hand assited) and my long incision under my belly button all of a sudden started to ooze and got red all around it & was slightly tender to the touch. I went to my PCP and was put on antibiotics because he said it was an infection. After 1 day of antibiotics it is doing much better. Keep it clean with hydrogen peroxide & I hope it goes away soon. Guest guest
I had a small infection at the base of my open incision about 4 weeks after surgery. What caused it was one of the internal stitches trying to come out. I got a lot of puss out of it and it oozed for days. I was finally able to see the stitch and pulled it out with tweezers. It looked like a thick, clear hair, about 1/8 inch long. Within 2 days the infection was completely gone and the incision closed up. It is important to keep it clean and I used neosporin on it. My infection was only about 1/8 inch long and wasn't very serious or painful. I still had my doctor look at it to make sure it wasn't serious or that it needed further treatment. If you start having a fever, a lot of pain, or it just really bothers you, call your doctor immediately. It is better to be safe than sorry. If you don't feel your doctor is taking you seriously, make an appointment or go to the ER. Infections can become serious and you don't want to mess around with that. Kathy M. Guest guest
-Hi Lynne, I had the 1st part (sleeve gastrectomy) of my surgery sept 10th and I encountered a similar problem last week. I went in to see dr Gagner a week early for my follow-up so he could check me over, and he said everything was ok and some leaking is normal. He advised me to make sure to keep it nice and clean with soap. And that was that! It is no longer oozing, but is still red and sore on the side. I'm hoping it will heal itself as the dr has suggested. Good luck! denise in ny -- In duodenalswitch@y..., " Lynn Fahey " <rjfahey@e...> wrote: > > Hello everyone! > > I had my surgery on Sept. 5th.
