While shopping there one day last month, I noticed they had dairy free and egg free items in their bakery dept. They also were starting to carry Spelt bread and the yg lady behind the counter said they were experimenting with GF recipes ... My son is GFCF / eggless and his birthday was coming up. The B'day cake I made last year was ok, but no one licked their plates... I talked with folks in the bakery, in particular Cathy. I told her I had this mix (white by Glutino) that made a super cake but that I couldn't icing a cake worth a darn. Could they make the cake and decorate it ?? She said sure. We talked and discussed which ingredients to use (Willow Run was the margarine used for the icing) and she used Soy milk for the cake mix. I picked up the cake for my son's party Saturday morning. Talk about gorgeous! I also picked up a gluten- choc cake for those who didn't want to eat the GFCF eggless cake. (I wasn't too concerned about the sugar - I figured it was his birthday .....) The cake was a success! People licked forks and plates! I have choc cake left over but none of the vanilla cake left over!
