Robin,

Just as a note Dr. Bessler over at Columbia does not perform the DS. When I was

researching surgeons in my area I contacted him personally and he said he was

only doing the RNY. At that back in may he was also moving offices and his wait

list was like 4-5 months for an initial consult. I ended up traveling to SI to

get it done with Dr. Macura. The commute is hell but hey its a small price to

pay and I cant complain when others on the list have traveled out of the country

to get the procedure done.

(Bessler, I think his name is?) does it so I do have other options.

It's just very frustrating to start over - since I had to wait so long

for the consult appointment to begin with and now I'm sure I'll

have a long wait again. But I have to do what I feel is right for me

- even if it means waiting a little longer.

Does anyone have any experience/recommendations on the

other doctors in NYC that do the DS? Anyone know if it's a long

wait to get into see one of the surgeons at Mt. Sinai?

Thanks to everyone for the input!
