Guest guest
I am sorry that I am not going to be much help here, but I have had the same concerns about my 26 month old. My older son (almost 7) is diagnosed DSI and was tested for Aspergers and the DR said he had Aspergers symptoms but she wouldnt diagnose him with Aspergers. ANyway, he we always knew (very smart, at 9 months was lining up matchbox cars and toys, easily frustrated, head banging, toe walking, spinning, crashing, hyper, no speech until over 2 years, etc). My 26 month old we got into Birth to 3 at 18 months for speech because he hadnt started pointing or saying words and I had them do an evaluation for DSI. They quickly picked up things they they said were sensory issues and he has been recieving OT once a week. My concerns about Aspergers have been: toe walking, he constantly has to have one thumb in his mouth and the other one on his belly button - we have never been able to put onsies or one piece outfits on him or he throws a major fit, but the thing that really concerns me is he will spend an hour or more laying on his back and raising his legs up and down slowly, over and over again. He loves to watch them go up and down. He even does this in the bathtub, holding onto the sides raising his legs above the water and below. He seems a lot calmer then my older son, and alot happier, but sometimes that scares me more. He also loves to lay in his bed for hours when he first wakes up, where my other son flies out of bed the minute his eyes open up. Are we just looking for trouble or are these real concerns? I have no clue, sorry. I wish I could help. I think we just need to follow our instincts and keep an eye on it. Remember, you can always refer your child to birth to 3 on your own - you do not need a doctor. Have them come and do an evaluation? It cant hurt. ===== Phyllis Parmelee Visit my website: THE 100 ACRE WOOD CHILD CARE - My Brand New Website Like my website? Want to know how you can get one, too?
