I had looked into the ADEKs and Vita4life, but I really don't care for the one-size-fits-all plans. If you need to increase your intake of one vitamin, it means you will be taking too much of others and wasting money. I take 2 Multi vitamin/mineral (TheragramM) a day costs about 3.50/month 6 Calcium citrate w Vit. D (CVS brand) which costs about 16.50/month 3 Allergy A & D by Twinlabs, this was just upped from 2 because my A was a bit low. This costs about 5.00 /month And 3 Iron (Fesol) added also last month for a cost of about 10.00/month This makes a total of about $34.00/month My labs last month showed all my levels were good except the Vit A and Iron. That is why those were added. >> Rita: Many thanks for your input. I haev also heard of the Allergy A & D by Twinlabs (perhaps some surgeons prefer this brand over the ADEKS), but I wonder about the Vit K and E??? How does one ensure that these levels are maintained? Would the multis you take be enough? I'll have to check out the TheragramM --- The multis I've been taking are quite ridiculous (I take two a day --- One a Day Chewable Childrens. I never switched to the regular multis b/c I chew the ADEKs at the same time and liked having them both in chewable form. Also, if I forget to take them immediately with a meal, I can just chew them afterwards and not require liquid to swallow them). I really should check out the CVS citrate brand. I've been using the brand name and it ain't cheap! My labs have come back totally normal at 6 months (I was very, very slightly low on calcium but my PTH was fine at three months out - I think this was due to the fact that I switched from caltrate to citrate -- now I'm totally on the citrate 3x/day). I don't want to mess around with things so to speak because all my labs are great but if the CF Foundation will not be renewing my ADEK prescription (I only have a one year prescription), it will be even more expensive than it already is! all the best, TEresa lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. GAgner/Mt.
