I am here and doing fair? I am having a lot of problems with blurry vision and pain but hanging in there. I was laid off from my job 6 months ago yesterday and cant find anything so I am pretty depressed about it but it seems to be like this all over the country so I just gotta deal. I did make an appointment for a Neuro (for the first time in 9 years) but I had to cancel it last week- I just simply cant afford it- the insurance I have on COBRA is ;paying virtually nothing and I dont want to lose my house. It happened to me before in 1992 due to medical bills I couldnt pay. NEVER AGAIN do I want to go through that!! Irene in coastal NC

Hello I hope you are doing well.I currently do not have any health ins but fortunately there are two programs near me that help in a big way. The first is at a hospital in my home town it is called community care. Based on my income that is low because I am on SSD and below the federal poverty level they pay for all of my appt and tests including x rays and labs. I was even hospitalised for 7 days and that was covered as well. The second is through the state medical collage that is called Iowa cares program. I have to drive almost 100 miles to get to the collage but once again my care is all covered including meds neurologist rheumatologist primary care phys and any and all tests and procedures. Also for meds there is a program called Needy Meds that gives help with meds that are sometimes very expensive. I hope this helps and maybee sheds some light on some options you may have.If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them.
