Ok...deep breath....a couple of observations....

--ICU rocks. You get total one-on-one care. I was bummed to be

moved to a regular unit. While no one likes being in the hospital,

ICU is the best place to be!

--Nuts are one of my favorite snacks. I eat all kinds, all the time.

--As far as foods you'll have to give up: After surgery, I became a

different person, for the better. I was a total carbaholic. Now, I

can't tolerate pasta, bread, etc. You know what? Not only do I not

miss it, but I can't believe I ever ate so much of it! It's amazing

how the mind adjusts when the body can't tolerate something.

--My life is 1000% better since surgery & I would do it again in a

minute. They say that just being thin won't make you happy. WRONG!

It's amazing how all the issues that made me eat so much before are

easier to deal with now. Again, it's amazing what the mind does with

a new body.

--My kids are happier than ever. They LOVE that I can run and chase

them. I have more energy than when I was 20.

Very best of luck,

I am SOOO glad that nuts are tolerable. I asked about them because

of the protein and the dietician said nuts are out! Hmmmm, that

makes the whole thing seem a little easier. What about the tiny

sips of liquids and/or baby spoon type bites etc???

,

Take it slowly and enjoy yourself being preop. Do the things that you know

you aren't going to be able to do again for awhile. Make it a fun. And

remember you can ask for a medication to relax you when you get in to the

hospital so that you aren't so scared. I was very thankful for that

medication. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! You will be in our

thoughts and prayers.
