Guest guest
Dr. Pirani has the model of a skeleton foot and has shown me on several occasions what bones are moving and why. He has even let me feel on Hayden's foot the different bones and has explained what is happening and how he wants things to progress. Also, he works off of the neumonic " CAVE " , which is " cavus " , " adductus " , " varus " and " equinus " . He has explained the way each bone corrects to me, but of course - my sleep deprived brain is drawing a blank. I DO know that it is the " equinus " portion that is corrected with the tenotomy (referring to horses and how they " toe walk " ). If you like, I can have him explain it to me again and pass it on to you when he does? I think it also says something about this in the Global booklet. Maybe someone could confirm if there is a document like that to explain what the basic steps are for each cast? I was wondering if any of you actually asked the doctor about what bones he was manipulating each time and compared it to some sort of Ponseti document to sort of ensure that he seemed to know what he was doing instead of just twisting the foot toward the neutral position? Maybe I should just presume he knows what he is doing but how do you really know that they are manipulating the bones etc in the correct way? Thanks very much, Halley
