Guest guest
You shut the gate on that surgery thought creeping in to your mind!!! That is a last ditch effort that doesn't even deserve recognition this early in the game. Your daughter is plenty young enough to enjoy very successful, non-surgical cf correction but you're going to have to find the doctor who can give it to her and that's the tricky part. Treatment is easy - getting the right dr. is often not so easy but I totally urge you to go where ever you need to go to get it. You won't regret the initial inconvienince for the life long results you'll be gaining on her behalf. I assume you're on the east coast somewhere? I'm not but maybe someone can direct you from that direction. But in any event let us know where you are and we'll help you find a dr who can fix this pronto for her. You want inspiration and reassurance - I'm fixing to give birth to my 3rd bilateral club foot baby. My oldest son did not get good care due to my own ignorance at the time and now at age 7 he is stuck with stiff feet and a mild handicap. My 2nd son was treated by Dr. Poneti in Iowa City. We drove nearly 700 miles to get there and stayed 3 weeks for it - but he now has perfect feet. The difference between the outcome of my two boys is too amazing to put in words here, it's huge. When my 3rd boy arrives, we'll do it all over again, taking him as far as we need to drive and staying as long as we need to stay to get it done right the first time. You do have options. If you have to travel, there are many Mc houses and usually one near to a children's clinic. And there is Angel Flights and other airline options to get you there for no cost. Even if insurance won't cover the dr., the toal out of pocket cost for the Ponseti treatment is way less than the lengthy and usually surgical treatments insurance will pay for. You'll spend a dime to save a thousand dollars down the road, trust me on that one. Let us know how we can help! s. new member needs your advice Hello My name is Sara and my daughter was born July 28, 2005 with bcf. For about 6 weeks, we went to Children's Memorial in Chicago and she had the routine plaster casts. The doc was suggesting surgery and it is not what I'd really like to do, so we stopped treatment there. We had contacted a Naturopath/Chiropractor who said she didn't need surgery, but he is in South Carolina. I have been doing " therapy " with her since then--about 2 1/2 months and although her feet are more pliable, they just aren't showing much improvement. She is now 5 months old and developing so quickly and I want to correct this problem! I was to the point that surgery was creeping into my mind and I truly need some inspiration and reassurance that we can help her w/o surgery. Please, any advice you have would be greatly appreciated!
