It has been recommended that our 4 month old daughter wear a band. We

are lucky enough to live in the Chicagoland area and have various

options readily available. My husband and I are struggling with

whether to go with the Duo or Starband. We saw the folks at Cranial

Technologies (Duoband) in Oak Brook and Dr. Vicari out of Children's

Memorial (Starband)in Westchester. Both seem like very good options

and would have great results. I'm wondering if there is anyone who

also had to chose between these two and would offer any guidance. We

are leaning toward Children's since there is a doctor involved and our

daughter is also going through physical therapy with Children's for

Torticollis.

Thanks for any help you may have,

Welcome-

I think you mean the DOCBand, right? Cranial Tech does the DOCBand.

I had the choice between Star and DOC and decided to travel 3 hours

to go to Cranial Tech for the DOC. They are wonderful. We go to the

one in Charlotte, but I've heard good things about the ones in

Chicago as well. Is there a difference in your insurance for where

you can go? Or doesn't it matter? I would recommend CT to anyone.

I've also heard Dr. Vicari's name a lot too, so hopefully someone

can share their experience with him and the StarBand.

Good luck!

I'm wondering if you mean the DOC band from Cranial Technologies? I've never heard of the Duoband. My daughter is currently in a DOC band and we are using the Cranial Tech office in Skokie. She has been wearing it only 2 weeks and already has improvement. I am very pleased so far. She is 7 months old. I can't really comment intelligently on the other option because I've never explored it but I can say that I'm happy with my choice. We are in the far NW suburbs so Skokie is a little closer than Oak Brook. I don't know anything in particular about the other Chicagoland office. Good luck with your decision.Wendee Trying to decide - Duoband v. Starband - Chicagoland area
