Guest guest
, there are some good surgery stories on the geocities site at http://www.geocities.com/orthognathic info (click on PERSONAL SURGERY EXPERIENCES). I put them up on that site because I don't think we hear enough about how easy recovery can be. But then, the support group is here for all of us, and some of us have more challenges. As for your numbness question, I had upper/lower/genio (had a easy and uneventful recovery) - my whole face was numb from behind my eyeballs down to my chin! I have a wee bit of numbness left which is mostly from a wisdom tooth removal years prior to my surgery (the oral surgeon had to dig into the bone to remove an impacted lower wisdom tooth). It's never really bothered me much, just a kind of altered sensation if I touch it with my finger lightly (sort of like the last few seconds of dental freezing or novocaine for you Americans). That and there is a wee bit of numbness still on my chin below the lower lip on the left side. It doesn't bother me and I expect continued slow improvement over time. Numbness can go quickly, or take quite a long time to go away. My surgeon told me 5-7 years for full recovery, and based on small improvements after my wizzie surgery, I agree. > > Hello Jen, > > Your recovery following surgery is the best story I've read yet on > here...usually the only stories I read on here are horror stories > about the surgery.
