I think what I might sub is some ginger tea instead of the soda, and perhaps a touch of honey. You don't need the fizzy of the soda -- it'll be gone by the time you finish cooking the sauce down. Not sure about cooking with it, but the only reason it's allowed once per week according to BTVC is because the diet would be impossible and nobody would follow it if people were so restricted since alot of people are "addicted" to sugars. Diet soda still has sugars that bacteria can digest even though none of it is used by our bodies. I need all the recipes I can find--not too crazy about it. If the gingerale is legal, can someone post the brand or send it to me offline?
