Guest guest
Hi, I am 28 years old, but I had my tonsils taken out at 19. My tonsils were huge. The were so big, they touched in the middle of my throat and they had holes that collected infections. So, because I was getting so many throat infections I went ahead and had them out. It was really painful as my tonsils actually covered a large area of my throat (the largest the doctor had ever seen and I'm a small person). I did have 2 instances where my throat bled after the surgery. In one instance, I already had a doctor's appointment and I called and they told me to come on in and they saudered my throat. The second instance, the doctor was in surgery, so they told me to go to the hospital where they did the same thing. It's pretty common in adult patients, but just something that you should be aware of. It wasn't that bad and I was really glad I did it. The first instance of my throat bleeding happened when I sneezed in the shower. The doctor even said he would have been surprized if he hadn't had to do it at least once. It wasn't really that bad. The worst part was the shot to numb your throat when you had to get the saudering done. My advice is to go ahead and get it done. As long as you are aware of the risks and know what to look for, it's really not too bad.
