Guest guest
Ok, my 1 daughter (4th born) has unilateral CF, and the other side Metatarus Adductus. Today I took my son (2nd born) in to the Podiatrist cause he is extremely wide footed, and flat footed. He suggested an arch support which my insurance will not cover. Ok, this is fine I will dish the $ out if it helps him be less clumsy. Heres the odd/funny part. I had my daughter in there with me. P/M 22/7. He kinda knew her story. He says that Aspen has bilateral Metatarsus Adductus. along with everything else. He said is was minor, but odd to still have it at an older age. I am now paranoid that he might need correction for this! He is 5 1/2yrs old, 99lbs. I thought they grew out of this before 3yrs old. Any suggestions? Christee Mother of Josh, Aspen, Dylan & *Lilee ~ Unilateral A-Typical (complex) Club Foot w/Cavus/Plantaris (R foot) & Metatarsus Adductus (L foot). *Fully corrected after a long haul w/another Dr. by DR. Ponseti himself! *Ponseti/ Brace 22/24 until 2/14/06, then to 18/24. *Will have to wear the brace with increased reduced hours until 4-5yrs old. *J. having to make a new wide width for such a small foot cause she has such wide/fat/stubby feet. --------------------------------- Yahoo! Guest guest
I don't know about coincidence, but let me tell you about Kai's sister Arica. Kai, of course, has unilateral complex (underlying condition contributing) clubfoot. Arica - his only full-blood sister - was born with " positional " clubfoot that spontaneously corrected, and also moderate MA in her left foot (the one that was " clubbed " ) and mild MA in her right foot. Her feet looked so funny, with her big toes skewed way out. She also has both femoral and tibial torsion. She is now 4.5 and her toes are in normal allignment, but her feet are very flat and wide. Whenever she has a growth spurt, her feet skew in again and it takes a month or two for them to come back to a normal position. Her feet were checked by both a local ped. ortho and Dr Mosca in Seattle, and both agree that because the MA is flexible - that is, you can manually bring it into correct alignment without forcing anything - that eventually it will go away. It is possible that her ATT is prone to being a bit too short, so that when she grows it takes a bit for it to stretch out and catch up. If you look in the old polls, you will find one that was on this subject. There is no " recognized " correlation between the two, but it isnt uncommon to see both things in one family.
