Guest guest
You are going to hear this, a lot, it gets better. I heard that so much I got sick of it, but it is true. I didn't eat much of anything the first two weeks. I was weak and shakey. Everything tasted NASTY, water, food, drinks. My wife made me eat a lot of scrambled eggs. I will be happy if I never have to see another scrambled egg. I guess this is the one food I used to like that I can't stand anymore. Cream of mushroom soup was one of the few things that I could stand at first too. I had a lot of nausea at first. I was drinking Boost. I figured out that sugar was making me nauseated. Boost has a lot of sugar in it. After I figured that out and avoided anything with sugar in it the intensity of the nausea got better but it was still my constant companion. My Dr. prescribed phenergan(sp?) and that helped. I am two months out of my DS surgery and I feel pretty good. I can eat anything and I have no more nausea. I again like the foods that I used to like, including Crystal Lite Pink Lemonade, which I lothed right after surgery. I am able to tolerate sugar again. The first days are difficult but it gets way better. The protein drink I take is a sugar free powder, chocolate flavored, that I found at Wal-Mart. I mix it with 8 to 10 oz of lactose free milk. It disolves well and the taste is tolerable. My wife found it in the vitamin section. I forgot the name now but I will look at noon and post it. Good Luck!
