Guest guest
Misty & Connie, I am also going through Richmond. I just wanted to share with both of you my sequence of appointments/timeline: My PCP referred me to the Bariataric Program without a psych eval or nutritionist consult. Same day that the referral was sent - I was approved (acceptance letter was dated the same day as the referral). 2 days after approval, I received a call from Sara from Richmond Bariatric Dept to schedule a Psych Eval & Nutrition consult with providers from the Bariatric Department. Sara explained that some PCPs do these two appointments before the referral is sent in, but mine didn't. Both Psych Eval & Nutrition consult were scheduled for approx 4-5 weeks later. Sara explained that after I complete the Psych Eval & Nutrition consult, my case will be reviewed by a Case Manager and I will then receive a date for Orientation. After completion of Psych Eval & Nutrition consult, I was told that I should be contacted within 1 week to schedule orientation. I didn't hear anything after the 1 week went by so I called the Bariatric Dept and was told that my case mgr has been out sick and to wait another week or so. After another week (this makes it a total of almost 6.5 weeks from acceptance)- I called again and was told to wait and not call back until my two months are up from the original acceptance date. Thankfully 2 days later they called with a date for two weeks out for orientation. So I had my orientation at 9 weeks from Acceptance. After orientation, we were told that we should be scheduled for the first mandatory Nutrition class in approx 4 weeks from Orientation and if we do not hear from anyone after 2 weeks - to call the dept. Well - I waited 2 weeks then called, they then scheduled me for the Nutrition class for 2 weeks later. I just completed the first Nutrition class and now my next appointment should be in approx 2-3 weeks (depending on which surgeon you select or if you don't care which surgeon - they will give you the first avalilable appointment for a Surgeon consult). We were told that we should get a call within 1 week from the Nutrition class to pick a surgeon and establish the surgeon consult appointment date. I've started the recommended 1200 calorie plan approx 2 weeks after the Orientation date. I will find out during the surgeon consult exactly how much weight I need to lose. We were told that it is typically 10% but it can vary... I hope this helps you out. Take care, Sue from Vacaville
