Guest guest
Dear parent, I hope I'm addressing this so it gets to right person. To the mother who's child is now wanting to walk in walker instead of lying around, you said you hope he would someday talk. well I'm a successful therapeutic aide working one on one with children that may have autism or PDD, etc., but I have an idea an idea came to me as I read your letter. As I'm sure you probably know, when a child hasn't begun to talk yet, one way to get their attention on the concept and to encourage and motivate her, is when they make a sound, you wait till they're finished & then you copy it. And smile at them like your really enjoying this conversation. Since I don't know your child I may be totally off here. But maybe not. I would practice this as a game and quality time together. I'd put Barouk music on. Are you familiar with the concept of the " cross crawl " ? It's a motion you move their arms and legs to encourage improved near communications. That's the layman's explanation. I learned about when I studied, massage. I maybe totally off, but the children I work with progress very quickly. I can imagine your child and come up with more ideas on how to lead her to speaking but I've been working on this letter for a long time and I have to get some other things done. I have a friend who would like to start conversing with other parents, any ideas? n
