It seems like there's SO much to gather before one goes in for surgery, and it just adds to the stress of the whole process. I would LOVE it if I could spend, say, $150 and get a whole sampling of everything I'll need for the first month or so. Here's an added idea: start small and work with the DS surgeon you know best to get him/her to recommend your kit to his/her patients. And can you please start this by Dec 2001 so that I can make use of it if my surgery date and insurance come through?? <g> alyssa
Guest guest
True Alyssa but what about those whom are on medicare and/or medicaid and those just barely making it with insurance?. The economy right now isnt that hot either and things could change quickly. It might be a good idea for later down the road though. You had a good idea that can be filed away! Guest guest
Maybe such a kit wouldn't cost so much..maybe it would. Either way, not *everyone* could afford it. I have some experience with protein powders and drinks. There are some that I actually LOVE, while others I talk to can't stand them. On the flip side, there are some that I've tasted that make me think I'd rather eat cat poop, but I've heard others swear by. LOL! Everybody is different and everyone reacts differently to various supplements and/or vitamins, either in the palate, stomach or the pocketbook. I think it would be very cool if someone (note I'm excluding myself) would gather a listing of supplements, etc with the manufacturers contact information and have everybody vote on them! Also, it has been my experience that if you write to these companies - I'm thinking of the protein shakes primarily - and tell them what you're up to, they are more than happy to send out a sample. A company who makes protein drinks SHOULD see dollar signs when faced with bariatric patients who need lifelong supplementation. Such a company would do good to court them and make them happy. > True Alyssa but what about those whom are on medicare and/or medicaid and > those just barely making it with insurance?.
