Guest guest
Such experiences are one reason I really appreciate the advances in modern dentistry. Truly, it's a dream come true for those who remember the evil old days. And even by my time, things were better than they had been. I remember reading a collection of letters written by the wife of an Alabama governor in the mid-19th century. She apparently also had difficult teeth, and wrote piteously to her husband, who had to be away from home, how much she dreaded having dental work done. And later she did indeed die of an infected tooth that no one couold cure in those days before antibiotics. The infection went to her brain, I believe... Sad story, which again makes me most grateful tor the times in which I live and the techniques our scientists and caregivers have developed. Orthodontia, too -- not to mention orthognathic surgery -- also have become much easier for the patients with the changes in the tools and techniques. Thank goodness!
