Removable vs. fixed retainers

I didn't realize that fixed retainers can be bothersome... stupidly,

i didn't realize that we may have to wear retainers for the rest of

our lives...

i suspect that my ortho will insist that i wear fixed retainers...

that's probably what i'll do since i will get used to them after a

few months..

can anyone share their experiences on this please?
