Guest guest
I have noticed my face has a different texture to it. Rougher. I had severe dehydration right after surgery and my skin got very dry and flakey. I use lotion all the time and now my skin is softer than it was before surgery but my face is still rough. Guest guest
My skin was extremely dry for about 3 months post op then normalized. I was told if your surgery was open it would be likely you would have a hernia. The doctor should know about it by now though. If you figure out how to rid yourself of gas and bloating in the afternoon please share because I do not know myself but suffer from that too. Guest guest
cynthia, you could be lactose intolerant as far as the gas goes. Ive had 3 abominal surgeries and never got one hernia! Guest guest
Judie, The surgeon could be the key. Also I was left open for about 20 days. I do not think I am lactose intolerant. I seldom drink milk and I do not seem to have the problems with cheese, cottage cheese, or sour cream. It seems to happen with certain veggies and meats. Chicken nearly kills me. It doesn't do any good. I guess time will just have to be the cure. Thanks for your experience. Guest guest
Judie, Yes those veggies do me in for sure. I drink milk maybe once every other month. I am not a milk drinker though I do love dairy. I ate green pepper tonight and that will usually put air in my belly. Guest guest
My belly is full of air tonight this is what I ate... ground beef with onion, green pepper and mushrooms, seasoned with garlic and chili powder & cayenne pepper all wrapped in a flour tortilla with a small side salad. It always seems to happen at night. In the morning is all goes away until after dinner. Am I freak or what? Guest guest
- Nope, you're no freak.. I used to have horrible, room-clearing gas.. started at ~ 7:30-8PM, ended some time in the wee hours of the AM. WHY, I don't know. I was given Flagyl for my gas troubles, & it worked great.. I don't have anygas except with BMs now. If you don't want to take Flagyl, you might try megadoses of live-culture yogurt and acidophilus to " overwhelm " the gas- producing bacteria.. also Beano (which did nada for me preop) does(or did, pre-Flagyl..) help when I eat onions, cabbage, broccoli, or any other gas-prone veggies. Also, you can " degas " beans when cooking them.. boil them for 15 minutes with 1/4 cup baking soda added to the water.. then rinse & cook as usual. If you have time, you can also soak w/baking soda in the water overnight, too. I used to do this preop, because beans gave me terrible gas. Haven't cooked beans yet postop.. Hope some of this helps- Hugs, Liane > My belly is full of air tonight this is what I ate... > ground beef with onion, green pepper and mushrooms, seasoned with garlic and > chili powder & cayenne pepper all wrapped in a flour tortilla with a small > side salad. > It always seems to happen at night. Guest guest
> Breads for me are giving me HORRIBLE gas.... > > ~~* AJ *~~ AJ- sounds like you're gluten sensitive.. the only way out is to either avoid bread, period.. or get spelt bread at the health food stores(Whole foods sells a variety of spelt breads). Spelt bread is made from sprouted grain, and for some reason doesn't trigger gluten sensitivities. gosh.. there's ONE problem I don't have.. YAY!! Anyhoo- hope this helps... Guest guest
, I asked Dr Welker about putting Mike on Flagyl as I could not stand the smell anymore and he had horrendous gas and since he has lost his sense of smell Im the only one who can smell the darn stuff, so......Welker said yeah, go ahead and ask your pcp to call the pharmacy for prescription. No luck......our pcp doesnt know squat about why flagyl is used for baritatric patients etc so I emailed Welker back and told him what happened and he called the pharmacy himself to get it filled for us.......Now, life is back to normal......Thank goodness for Flagyl! It kills off most of the bad bacteria that multiply rapdily in the gut and you must take acidolphilus or eat yogurt with live cultures in it twice a day to repopulate the gut with the good guys. And then go easy on the carbs and sweets as those are what the bad guys love to feed on! Judie
