Guest guest
Sheryl I have not used the powder for the rash but I found that after showering I use a blow dryer on cool setting to throughly dry the area, it worked great for me and totally prevented the rash. Seems like when I lose weight even tho I'm not at goal that helps too, so hopefully my surgery will be soon too. Sheryl
Guest guest
I wish I knew what kind of powder. I use Cortaid and apply it while wearing a rubber glove. It really works! dee --- Renae wrote: > Sheryl > I have not used the powder for the rash but I > found that after > showering I use a blow dryer on cool setting to > throughly dry the area, it > worked great for me and totally prevented the rash. > > > Renae > > > >From: SKeib13337@... > >Reply-To: duodenalswitch > >To: duodenalswitch > >Subject: Re: Scars > >Date: Thu, 27 Sep 2001 22:41:28 EDT > > > >In a message dated 9/27/01 8:55:52 PM Eastern > Daylight Time, andem4@... > >writes: > > > ><< As much as I dread another surgery, I know I am > going to have to have a > >tummy > > tuck when I am further out. Guest guest
Cortaid is great for inflamation and itching, but if you have a fungal infection, corticosteroids can cause an overgrowth of the fungus. Cortaid and other topical steroids can have some rare but serious side effects. Also, one of the problems with topical steroids is that the dose is related to the surface area covered by the cream or ointment, not the amount applied. Benadryl Gel might also work on a moist itchy rash. The antihistime will take care of the itch, and most gels have a tendency to dry out skin. In general, most of the Over the Counter antifungals (Lotrimine, Lamisil, Cruex) are relativly safe. If you have a problem with irritation from any of the antifungals, try one of the ones for Jock Itch (tinea cruris,) since they are formulated for use around " sensitive areas. Guest guest
I didnt have any luck with vitamin E oil, in fact I found it greasy and it would stick to my clothes and stain them as well as not making my scars any better. I tried Mederma with some luck they seemed to not be as raised, but I have recently moved to something called " Scar Zone " $10 cheeper a tube then Mederma and I have seen a noticable difference in the texture as well as the color of the scars almost immediately. I would reccommend a try Chris
