Guest guest
..aw..I was hoping to avoid it. It's Dolores - meaning lady of sorrows. The only reason I don't hold my mom completely guilty is because there was no internet back then and very few baby name books to actually look up the meaning of names. > > > > > > For all the pregnant mommies out there-hope this helps! > > > > > > > > > http://lifestyle.msn.com/FamilyandParenting/babyandpregnancy/ArticleB > C1 > > > .aspx?cp-documentid=171164 & GT1=7608 > > > > > > The link may be too big to become a " direct " one-you may need > to > > have > > > to cut and paste it. Guest guest
Well, it's actually a pretty name and I'm sure most people are clueless as to it's " meaning " , for what that's worth, ha! Guest guest
lol, such is the timing... Delores is an old name common in the 60's I'm sure. It's not so bad! My poor mom... her name is Donelda. They didn't have a boy to name after her dad so they improvised! wackos! Anyone heard of any 's or Misty's as baby names lately? lol... Lots of s when I was a kid, so lots of 35yo's with that name but I haven't heard of anyone naming babies that in recent years. And my name isn't really Kori... it's Korene. NOT cute like Corrine... more brash and bold like Apple CORE, Chlorine, and CornFlake... I also got called Kareem Abdul Jabar alot. Kori is my nickname but my parents spelled it Korie... I hated that spelling because by the time I was almost a teen I didn't want the cute Corrine kinda name anymore so I killed the *e* and became Kori. Which I thought was original until I helped once at a Special Olympics where you stand at the end of the track and encourage the kid to run to you (so they know where to end up lol) and they slam into you and knock you down... turns out my kid was a Kori too. I was so excited, and tried to communicate with her that we had the same name but she couldn't have cared less! lol Whatever the case... most of the taunting ended when I came out with Kori. We didn't realize it when we named Merek but he may have trouble with being called . And when Kenton was little he couldn't say Merek so he called him Maggot. It took a whole lot of self control not to laugh when that happened and to never let him know exactly what a maggot was. It did end and so far he has no idea he called him that. If he did know... well let's just say it'd be very difficult to prevent him from being rude to his brother when they're arguing now and I'm sure it'd get called up more often than not. I think we may tell him maybe when he's like 35 or so... perhaps by then they'll be good enough friends to only laugh about it instead of use it as name calling fuel. It was pretty funny though and as parents we'd have to walk away and hold the chuckles in or hide them. We tried to be good parents at least! Guest guest
Tristan means sad and means crippled. I think those are both cool names, and I believe most people don't get into what they mean. Dolores seems an old-fashioned name to me, but I have a Rose and an Iris, so it's not a bad thing, imo. Guest guest
Oh alright...since you asked so nicely My parents had been looking at house plans when my mom found out she was pregnant with me. The 2 plans they were leaning towards were " The Theresa " and " The " . When I was born, that was the name they chose (Theresa ). Now, I know the next question will be why is my name spelled and not Theresa? Good question. The answer to that is that my grandmother (the same one we got 's name from) misspelled it for my birth certificate My mom was one of those who wanted certain patterns within our family's names. All of us had the same middle and last initials (my dad and brother are DSS, my mom is BSS, and I was TSS until getting married). Also, until the misspelling, we would have all had the same number of letters in our names. novemberfable wrote: > Alright . Guest guest
Lydia Rose is actually our girl's name. Now we just need to have a girl! Evelyn is the other, in case we have twins. They run in the family...on both sides. In fact, both of us have grandparents that are twins....yikes! These are all family names...Lydia is my grandma, Rose my greatgrandma, Evelyn is 's grandma and is my mom's middle name. I love the old fashioned girl's names. They are so elegant, and fit for all ages. > > > My grandmother's name was Leona. That one is definitely not on our > > list! Guest guest
Violet Sylvia is beautiful too! I still remember when and I came up with Lydia Rose. We were in St. Cloud, wathing a Huskies hockey game. We were dating, I don't think we were even engaged yet, but we were talking about having children and what we'd name them. We both wanted family names, and we were talking about the names in our families. This one stuck! I was a bit disappointed when we found out we were having a boy first. I am the oldest and wanted to have a girl first. But as I told everyone before we knew whether we'd have a boy or girl first, 51% of me wanted the girl, and 49% the boy! Aleksander's middle name is . It is tradition in 's family for the father to pass his first name on as the middle name to his son. is , and his father is , his grandpa was , and it goes on and on as far back as we can tell. Funny thing too, 's dad, grandpa, greatgrandpa were all born on the 24th (different months). was the exception...born on the 12th. Aleksander was due on the 12th, but came on the 24th. I'm big into the funny patterns myself. I have an aunt who got married on the 26th and all three of her kids were born on the 26th of different months. So cool. My kids have been born on the 28, 29, and 30th. My first son's birthday is on the 12th, but then I realized my hubby's birthday is on the 9th and mine's on the 15th, so it figured into a pattern somewhere.
