Double check to make sure you have the newest model-it should be

model 1644. If they are the newest model, check and see if the

orthotist can change the strap for you and put in a longer strap-or

try a local shoe cobbler. I believe once the leather has stretched-

this may not be such a problem. Sorry I am not such a help-but this

is all I can think of-I hate new shoes-I love when they are broke in

and nice and soft and stretched out, etc. We are to be getting a new

pair shortly-ugh!!!

With putting the shoes on-maybe put a favorite tv show on for Karter

or let him do something while you are putting his shoes on-for our

son-we let him brush his teeth while we put the shoes on-it helps

keep the wiggles down to a minimum!!

take care,

We had a similar problem with my son's shoes. The woman who fitted him

actually added an extension for me. It is not the most attractive thing, but

hey neither are the shoes. This extension added about 4 inches and makes

taking them off and putting them on much easier.

Good luck

What did you do to tighten the straps?

I'm having a horrible time getting them tight enough, and it

certainly doesn't help that Aleksander is 1 and is getting more and

more stubborn every day. His latest game is Kick Mom. Ow! I know

he just wants to keep playing, and the 5 minutes it takes to get

those shoes on is 5 minutes less of playtime. He used to be so good

about getting the shoes on, but since his birthday almost two weeks

ago, he's been terrorizing me.

Anyway, does anyone have any ideas how to get the straps tighter?

I've thought of using a pliers or something like that. I'm also

hoping once the leather stretches and wears in, it will get easier.

Thanks!

Doesn't the Markell guy occationally hang out on the clubfoot site? Maybe

someone could mention it to him again next time he popps up...

end that parents are having to modify the straps like this when they

simply could be made longer so we can actually use them. This

apparently is not important enough to change. grrr...

That's so strange, our latest pair that we got a couple of months

ago, a 3.5 had really really long straps. In fact they hang below the

bottom of the shoe! Our last pair, a size 1 had long straps as well,

not as long as this pair though...weird!

I think it is pretty insane too, but I'm very happy with the shoes

now.

Unfortunately, Aleksander is running a fever tonight. We're fairly

sure it is a side effect from his immunizations, but this is the

first fever he's had so it is freaking me out a bit. We've been so

lucky with him...he hasn't been really sick once yet and he's a year

already. But, he's sleeping well so I'm sure he'll be fine. I just

have to sneak into his room to check his temp for my own peace of

mind.

I had put the lotion on Aleksander tonight...helped a bunch

too!

I think the ones we got are 2.5. I didn't really pay attention.

Aleksander has small feet. They look so dainty on his big solid

body.
