- was it you? Or who? Someone posted a few weeks (?) back about the

number of surgeries done by different surgeons, with gold metals, silver

metals, honorable mention, etc. Can you please re-post those statistics or

let me know which thread this is on? I would like to have those back again.

Tried looking through search on yahoo groups myself and couldn't find it.

Thanks in advance.

And Hess only does one per day, 4 days a week, so the others may catch up to

him, but he has longevity on his side!!!!

Carole,

Look in the files section under " Hull's folder " . There you will

find a spreadsheet called DS procedures " . To summarize:

Marceau wins the gold 1300 procedures

Hess wins the silver with 900

Anthone and Rabkin tie for the bronze with >500

Dawn,

Dr. Antohne also does 4 procedures per week, though usually 2 on

Wednesday and 2 on Friday. So it looks like Hess may keep his edge.

I am not sure how many surgeries per week Rabkin does, but I think it

is probably similar. Some RNY doctors do 4 per day (like Wittgrove).

The DS just takes too long to cram more than 2 per day.

I would, I think, send a letter, by FedEx if need be, to both the

ortho and the surgeon, with receipts requested, and tell them

exactly how this is working for you. Also -- actually, first -- call

and ask for return calls, before you have to send the FedEx letter

to get it there. Explain what the trouble is, on the phone and/or in

writing, and tell them you are at a loss as to how to work this all

out.

The secretary is being a S**T. Who set her up as the arbiter of

fairness in the universe? My folks always, always wanted to do

whatever they could to get me in when I needed to see the doc.

You may eventually have to explain to her and her boss (or ask your

husband to do so) that you also don't think they're treating you

very fairly, nor holding up their end of what you've seen as a

partnership at work, a partnership in which you've put up the $$$...

For what it's worth, I was ordered by my surgeon to see the ortho

within 24 hours of removal of the splint, " so he can get those big

wires out of there. " Actually, he left " those big wires in there "

and segmented them.

I'd guess that you won't be washed down the drain, even if you have

to wait, but I want you to have (and keep, even through a move) a

record of having notified them that their scheduling apparatus

failed you. There are legal remedies available if they do you so

badly that you have serious orthodontic troubles later on. (Gawd.

I'm beginning to sound like a junior law-woman here. I don't wanna

be a lawyer. There was a time when I did, but I don't, any more.)

Not the best idea ever offered, posting specifically about docs, with

names.

Most of us do indeed think our surgeons were quite wonderful. And some

of those have been named. But someone who succumbs to the yen to vent

negative blasts, for whatever reason, about a doc (or anyone else

named) opens him or herself to legal liabilities. I think.

I'm no lawyer. No judge. But I wouldn't do it. I'd take it to court, if

I thought there were serious malpractice. But I would not be hasty in

jumping toward that thought, either.

And I'd keep my own counsel about it.

If someone sues you for libel, you are innocent until they prove you

lied. Which means they have to prove they DIDN'T do what you said they

did. I think reporting doctor's errors to others is the right thing to

do.

And honestly, surgeons do not have the time to search an Yahoo group

for their name, read all the posts, and then sue over something they

didn't want said.

I'm with cptbob and Cammie on this one. I don't think this or other

sites are an appropriate forum to make allegations that haven't been

proven in a court. If you do have something less than positive to say

about a particular surgeon, it's probably best said in a private

message to another member.

Part of the reason for this is that the other party doesn't have the

opportunity to reply, whereas in a court of law, they do. And as they

say, there are always two sides to a story.

My two cents (C$) worth.

Jane,

I support your position. It's important to hear the negative doctor

stories as well. It helps the rest of us know what to watch out for in

our interactions with our own doctors.

Yes for the persons sake just email it one on one but do let the

person know individually if they can avoid a bad situation.
